COMMUNITY & ENVIRONMENT
Pairc, as the area of South Lochs is also known, consists of 10 small but beautiful villages each with it’s own character. Cromore is one of the few villages which has its own pier where a number of small local fishing boats work out of - including our own “Rhoda” – Murdo’s favourite pastime if weather permits! Many visiting yatchs anchor overnight or for shelter in adverse weather. We also have some local designated walks in the area with two of them right on your doorstep.
Also, for your convenience, there is a shop, café, museum and Post Office located approximately 6 miles from the pod, selling a variety of groceries, newspapers, and gifts. They also provide a 24/7 fuel service and cycle hire, and also, out-with shop opening times, you can access a washing machine and tumble dryer (washing powder supplied) for a small fee of £3 or £4 dropped into the honesty box.
As a local family, we really appreciate the traditional and natural environment we have been fortunate enough to have grown up in, and we hope that we will all continue to care for it for generations to come. To that end, we are committed to doing things the right way, especially when it comes to respecting the environment. We support fair trade, using Fairtrade certified goods and sustainable and environmentally sensitive products in our pods to help reduce plastic waste as much as possible. Our wastewater and sewage are processed through a water treatment plant, which we ask you to help us to maintain by proper use.
Our aim is to help you to enjoy and appreciate our surroundings.
As your pod sits on the same croft as our house, we are on hand should you wish to contact us for anything, to provide information or advice to ensure that you make the most of your time here. We’re on site to meet you and hand over your keys and to answer any questions you may have. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our luxury glamping pod on the beautiful Isle of Lewis.
